Limitations on Evaluations

Every member’s care path is different, and we understand that you may come to Spring Health with a range of needs and questions. Spring Health providers are here to support your care, but there are limits to the evaluations they can complete. Spring Health providers don’t perform formal psychological testing or comprehensive evaluations.

Evaluations We May Support

At a provider’s discretion, and if they are clinically trained to do so, providers may complete certain evaluations, including:

  • Bariatric evaluations to assess psychological readiness for bariatric surgery
  • Gender-affirming care evaluations
  • Psychological evaluations for employment verification that focus on treatment history rather than legal opinions or formal testing
  • Certification of completion for premarital education
  • Nexus letters for veterans’ VA disability claims

Evaluations We Can’t Complete

Spring Health providers can’t complete the following types of evaluations:

  • Formal fitness-for-duty evaluations, including physical capacity or job-specific functional testing
  • Custody or parental evaluations
  • Court-ordered or court-mandated treatment documentation
  • Emotional support animal (ESA) evaluations or documentation, including letters for housing, travel, or pet policies
  • Firearms or weapons clearance evaluations
  • Immigration or disability-related psychological evaluations, whether functional or formal
  • Other legal, administrative, or third-party evaluations outside standard care

For more detail on the scope of care and what Spring Health providers can and can’t do, please review our Informed Consent.

What We Can Provide

Some documentation is available even when it relates to a legal or administrative matter:

  • Treatment verification letters confirming your engagement in care, including dates of service and provider credentials
  • Treatment summaries, which give a high-level overview of your treatment focus and participation
  • Session attendance confirmations
  • Non-evaluative letters to employers confirming your care engagement

Requesting Your Records

You may request a copy of your medical records or a statement confirming your attendance at sessions. Records are provided directly to you, and you decide whether and how to share them with third parties. Spring Health will not send your records directly to any third party who is not involved in your care without your consent.
