Booking Couples or Family Therapy

International Considerations: Processes may vary by location, country or region. For members located outside the U.S., please contact your Care Navigator for next steps.

Whether you’re looking to strengthen your communication, navigate a major life transition, or resolve deep-seated conflicts, finding the right specialist is a vital step in your journey. Spring Health simplifies the process of finding couples or family therapy by offering specialized search filters and a streamlined booking experience, helping you find a clinician who truly understands your family’s unique dynamics.

How to Find and Book a with Provider

  1. Log In: Navigate to your account dashboard at care.springhealth.com.
  2. Find Care: Click the + Get Care, Appointments, or Explore tab to browse available therapists.
  3. Filter for Specialists: Under the "Works with" filter, select Couples or Families, then click Update Results
  4. Choose the Right Fit: Browse the curated list of specialists. You can click on a provider's profile to read about their clinical approach and therapeutic methodologies (such as the Gottman Method or Emotionally Focused Therapy).
  5. Select a Time: Choose the soonest available appointment or click "Show more times" to locate a date and time that works for all participants.
  6. Confirm Appointment Type: Before final booking, ensure that Couples (or Family, if applicable) is explicitly selected under Appointment Type. This alerts the provider to prepare for a multi-person session.
  7. Share the Link: For virtual sessions where participants are joining from different locations, the person who scheduled the appointment is responsible for copying and sharing the unique video link with the other attendee(s).

How Prepaid Sessions Are Counted & Managed

Couples and family sessions are deducted from the sponsored session balance of the member who scheduled the appointment.

If the member who originally booked the care runs out of their sponsored sessions, future appointments are not automatically drawn from the other participant's account. To maintain continuity of care:

  • The other participant must be an eligible dependent under the plan.
  • The dependent must create their own independent Spring Health account.
  • Once registered, the dependent must contact the Care Team directly to request assistance with setting up and booking future couples or family care sessions under their own account profile.
For strict data privacy reasons, Care Support cannot proactively reach out to the secondary participant to request this authorization; it must be initiated by them.

If the other participant is not eligible for their own Spring Health account, they may be able to continue care through insurance or self-pay using the account of the member who originally scheduled the session(s).

Location Requirements

To receive care through Spring Health, all participants must be physically located in a state or jurisdiction where your provider is legally licensed to practice at the exact time of the session.

  • If a session cannot proceed because a participant is joining from an unlicensed state, the session will be canceled. These cancellations are handled under our standard 24-hour window rules and may be subject to a late cancellation fee or a lost sponsored session. Always verify your provider's licensing coverage area before booking if anyone in your party is traveling.
