Understanding Medication Management

Please note: Prescribing practices and availability of medication management vary by country, and may not be included in your specific benefit plan. Please review your plan details in your account dashboard for more information. Members located outside the U.S. should reach out to their Care Navigator for location-specific support.

Medication Management at Spring Health provides you with the opportunity to meet with a medical doctor (psychiatrist) or a nurse practitioner to discuss how medication might fit into your mental health journey.

Think of this as a collaborative partnership. Whether you are already taking medication and need adjustments, or you are simply curious about your options, these sessions offer a professional space to gain clinical insights tailored to your needs.

What to Expect in a Session

A session with a medication manager is primarily informational and exploratory. There is no obligation to start a prescription just because you’ve booked a meeting. Your provider will focus on:

  • Reviewing Your History: Discussing your current symptoms, past experiences with medication, and overall health goals.
  • Exploring Options: Learning about how different medications work and how they might complement other treatments, like therapy.
  • Ongoing Monitoring: If you do decide to start medication, your manager will provide regular check-ins to monitor effectiveness and manage any side effects.

Is Medication Management Right for You?

You might consider scheduling a session if you:

  • Feel like therapy alone isn't quite managing your symptoms.
  • Need a refill or adjustment for a current mental health prescription.
  • Are experiencing side effects from your current medication.
  • Want an expert opinion on the biological side of mental health (e.g., sleep, anxiety, or focus).

How To Get Started

If you are interested in exploring medication management, you can take the next step in the way that feels most comfortable for you:

  • Browse Providers: You can view available medication managers and schedule an appointment directly within our Medication Manager Directory.
  • Consult a Care Navigator: If you need help deciding if this is the right path for you, our Care Navigators can provide guidance and help find a provider who matches your preferences.

A Note on Controlled Substances: In accordance with federal regulations and clinical safety standards, Spring Health Medication Managers do not prescribe controlled substances (such as certain stimulants for ADHD or benzodiazepines for anxiety). If a controlled substance is clinically indicated, your provider may be able to provide a recommendation for you to share with your primary care physician or a local in-network provider.
