Spring Health Substance Use Disorder Support

Spring Health provides specialized, confidential support for members who want to make changes to their alcohol or substance use. The program combines early screening, dedicated One-to-One Navigation, and access to top-tier in-network treatment providers and facilities and digital platforms — ensuring you never have to navigate recovery alone.

A Specialty Care Navigator helps you understand your options, develop a personalized care plan, and navigate your care along the way.

How to Access the Program

If Substance Use Disorder support is included in your Spring Health benefit, there are several ways to get connected:

• Platform Assessment: If your initial Spring Health intake assessment indicates alcohol or substance use as an area of concern, a personalized Care Plan card will automatically appear on your dashboard. This card links directly to the Alcohol and Drug Use Support page, where you can schedule a call with a Specialty Care Navigator.
• Direct Self-Referral: You can seek support at any time through the Substance Use Support Page, even if substance use wasn't identified during your initial assessment.
• Care Team Referral: A member of your care team may recommend Specialty Care if they believe additional substance use support could be beneficial.
• Employer Referral: Your HR team or HR Business Partner (HRBP) may request confidential outreach to help connect you with available support.

What to Expect

Your first step is a conversation with a Specialty Care Navigator. You will be prompted to schedule a phone call with a Specialty Care Navigator who is specially trained to support individuals with substance use concerns.. Your Specialty Care Navigator will then reach out to you directly at the phone number listed on your account.

During this call, your Specialty Care Navigator will learn more about your needs and goals, discuss available care options, and work with you to determine an appropriate care plan.

If you enroll in the program, your Specialty Care Navigator will continue to support you throughout your entire care journey, from initial enrollment through post-treatment aftercare. This may include biweekly, monthly, or as needed check-ins, depending on your needs. They can help monitor your progress, adjust your support, coordinate treatment, and navigate benefits.

Depending on your care plan, you may also be able to continue working with your existing Spring Health provider when clinically appropriate.

Care Options

Your care plan is personalized based on your needs and available benefits and may include a combination of Spring Health services and specialized partner programs.

Spring Health support may include:

• Psychotherapy
• Specialty Care Navigation
• Peer recovery support
• Accountability testing for alcohol use
• Medication for addiction treatment (MAT)
• Digital courses and self-guided resources

When additional or more specialized care is needed, Spring Health also works closely with external partner programs to help connect members with SUD treatment and services that may not be available directly through Spring Health. Your Specialty Care Navigator will help you understand the available options and identify care that aligns with your goals, clinical needs, and benefits.

Costs & Benefit Coverage

• Navigation & Case Management: Initial screening, Specialty Care Navigation, and ongoing case management are provided at $0 cost to you through your Spring Health benefit.
• Treatment Costs: Care provided through external treatment programs is billed through your primary health plan. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs, such as deductibles, copays, or coinsurance, may vary depending on your health plan and the program selected.
• Benefits Support: If specialized partner care is recommended, your Specialty Care Navigator will request a benefits check to help you understand your coverage and potential costs before enrollment. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs for treatment can vary based on your health plan and the program selected. Your Specialty Care Navigator will help you understand these details so you can make an informed decision about your care.
